What is Ashtanga Yoga?

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is the physical component of Ashtanga Yoga. The literal translation of Ashtanga Yoga is 'eight limbed yoga", where 8 spiritual practices make up the path to internal purification. Vinyasa describes a breathing and movement system that is synchronised and is essential to the practice. You are encouraged to focus on your breathing as you move seamlessly from pose to pose. Ashtanga encourages sweating, as it is believed that this is the way to get rid of toxins. So whilst physically demanding, it provides a complete mental, spiritual and physical purification.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Although physically demanding, it is for all levels and the teacher will provide variations and modifications to meet individual needs.
